William Stewart
Lifelong relationships with pioneering Alaskans, a deep appreciation for the resourcefulness of the indigenous people of Southeast Alaska, and the pristine beauty of the natural environment all serve as his inspiration.
Early mentors were boat builders and commercial fishermen. Later he worked for several years in Southeast Alaska's logging industry during which time he earned a degree in Fine Art from Seattle Pacific University. Prior to settling permanently in his beloved Southeast, he spent 3 years in Brussels, Belgium, where he worked as an illustrator.
