FIRST WATER FRAMED
Beth prefers oil paints when she paints and enjoy drawing with ink, graphite, colored pencils, oil pastels, Conte crayons and paint sticks. When painting she prefers to make her own stretchers and stretch her own canvas when working on larger paintings.
When making furniture, Beth likes to use cherry, walnut, ash, or some of the local wood found in Southeast Alaska, such as Alaska yellow cedar, Sitka spruce, and red alder. She also incorporates metal in her furniture.
She enjoys the outdoors which is what inspires her landscapes and seascapes. The Tongass National Forest where she lives is a magnificent place. She likes physical work and enjoys creating and building. Nature inspires all her work and she is drawn to the simplicity in Scandinavian design and Japanese aesthetic.
