Whether sailing Alaska coastal waters or snorkeling Hawaiian shores, V Rae chronicles natural life through bold portraits that leap from the canvas to your heart. Defying convention in a startling fusion of color and negative space, V paints Freestyle Expressions that transport each personal encounter through time and space, sharing with the world her seamless blend of art, nature and individual personality. Like Humpback whales, V migrates between Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii each year painting from platforms frequented by her subjects.
Artist's narrative: I met her at the Alaska Zoo. Half a globe from Mongolia, yet her eyes still sparkled like the warm Gobi nights. She seemed settled and at peace in her journey...even a bit amused by her new surroundings. She looked around, sidled up close and whispered, 'Really, dahling, have you seen those humps? (I looked puzzled) The moose! The musk ox! Too far forward...a total embarrassment. And someone should speak to that nasty little wolverine about his attitude.' She blinked her huge lashes, turned, shot me a smirk and sauntered off. I doubt her Facebook page has many friends.
