Mark Bartlett was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. As a boy, he explored the interior of Alaska by riverboat and vehicle while accompanying his father on hunting and fishing expeditions. He was moved by the beauty and ruggedness of Alaska at an early age. During his life, he has been employed as a logger, commercial fisherman, welder, fiberglass repairman, and as a social worker. He currently lives in Sitka, Alaska, where he works as a full time artist.
