Artist narrative: An artist friend and I drove down the wrong road while looking for an address on the outskirts of Anchorage. Finally we arrived at a little house. Out came a man followed by a litter of two- or three-month-old puppies. He directed us to the next driveway and in the same breath pleaded, "Wouldn't you like to have a free sled puppy?!" I didn't have a sketchbook with me, but on an old envelope I quickly drew the image while it was still fresh in my mind.
